It was confirmed in August, 15th, 2003 by the decision #380-9/XXIV of city council session. Per fess. First Gules; arms of the Apostles: escutcheon Gules in cartouche Argent, on it escutcheon Azure with double-crossed and forked cross Argent, surrounded by ten six-rays stars Or and Chevalier Cross Or in the bottom, below escutcheon two wheat spikelets Or. Second Vert; locomotive Sable, over it three six-rayed stars Or (middle is more than side), in base towel Argent with inscription "1793." The shield is framed by decorative cartouche Or and crowned by city crown Argent.
Two wheat spikelets represent agriculture as the main occupation of the locals. Emblem of the Apostles, who founded a settlement, points to the glorious past of the Cossack territory. Or stars represent the city (large) and two village (small) communities, subordinate to the city council. Steam locomotive is a symbol of the railway, which gave start to the development of the city. Towel associated with the city's first church holy veils and symbolizes the protection and patronage. Gules symbolizes bravery, courage of our ancestor-defenders of the native land, Vert - hope, joy and exuberance, Sable - sadness, grief and sorrow over the tragic events in the history of the city, Or - wealth, justice and generosity.
