CHERNIVTSI

It was founded in the days of Galyts'ka Rus'. The origin of the name comes from the first settlers - "chernivtsi". They came from a destroyed fortress Chern. Since the middle of the XIV century it was part of Moldavian principality.
Since 1774 it was part of Austria. At the end of 80s of XVIII century was given the Magdeburg Right.
