HOTYN

It was part of Kyiv Rus' in the X - XI centuries.
Since 1459 it was under the power of Moldova and Turkey by turns. In October 1620 the Ukrainian Cossacks headed by hetman I.Sagaidachnyi and the Polish army defeated the Turkish army near Khotyn. Since 1812 it was part of the Russian Empire. In 1918-1940 it was under the Romanian jurisdiction. It became part of Ukraine since 1940.
