It was confirmed by the decision of city council session. Azure; embattled fortification Argent with tower, accompanied in the dexter chief by bell Or in bend sinister, in the sinister chief by two sabers Argent in saltire. Shield is entered into the decorative cartouche Or and crowned by city crown Argent.
Azure symbolizes honesty, faithfulness, perfection. Tower resembles the ancient name of the city – "Bila Bashta" (White Tower). It shows the history of the city as a fortress of the Crimean khans. Bell recalls the victory of 1695, after which Poltava colonel Hercyk poured 120-pood bell from copper of captured guns. Sabers are reference about the numerous battles of the Cossacks.
