It was confirmed in September, 20th, 2002 by the decision #3а-24-31 of city council session. Per fess by two narrow fesses: Argent with prongs above, and Or, charged by an antique Greek ornament-meander. On the first field is cross of St.George Argent. The bottom field per pale. First Azure; three fishes Argent per bend heads upwards. Second Vert; cluster of grapes Or.
Meander is a symbol of Greek past. The argent gear fess is a symbol of Chembalo fortress. Argent cross is a reminder about Balaklava battle of the Crimean war, and the symbol of St.Georg monastery. Three fishes is a symbol of the city name: a balyk-uve the fish jack (the turki). Azure color is a symbol of the sea and the sky. The or grapes is a symbol of winemaking.
