The first mention refers to 1549. The first name - Budzaniv - carried up in 1946. Also has received from a surname of one of the owners, prince Jakub Budzaniv, Galychyna voevode.
The mountainous lay of land have involved settlers. On one of hills nearby 1550 has been constructed the wooden castle. In beginning of ХVII century the city owners have built a stone fortress on a place of the old wooden castle.
After an attack the Turk in 1675 the fortress laid in ruins. In 1765 Maria and Evstafiy Potots'kyis have reconstructed the part of castle walls to the church.
