STARYI MERCHYK

The modern emblem

It was confirmed in October, 19th, 2004 by the decision of village council session.

Vert; city wall Argent, in the gate Sable is head of a bull Or, over a wall two oak leaves Or, on dancetty chief Or flame Azure. The shield is enframed by cartouche Or and crowned by urban crown Argent with three prongs. Under a cartouche is motto tape Azure with inscription "SRARYI MERCHYK" Or and year of the foundation - 1665.
City wall with background vert and oak leaves symbolise an architectural ensemble of the palace, park and plantings. The head of a bull is dominating element of archeological finds of an antique time. Flame on the chief is a symbol of the Jyliiv'ske gas deposit on settlement territory, dancetty chief line is executed in the form of the letter "M", that specifies initial of old settlement and river names ("Merchyk").
