On a place of modern Inkerman was fortress Calamita. In 1475 Turks have seized a fortress and renamed to Inkerman. There is the cave city which has been cut down in a rock. Now city is a part of Sevastopol'.
According to a legend, for the sermon of christianity from Rome here has been banished sacred Clyment. Having arrived on a place of the reference, he has met many Christians, condemned to work in heavy conditions without water. He has prayed, and the Lord in an image of the Lamb showed to him the place of a source of water.
Apostolic activity has caused anger of emperor Trayan, and he has ordered to drown sacred Clyment. He have thrown in the sea with an anchor on a neck. It has occured in 101 year. By the prays of believers the sea has departed, and people have found at the bottom in not man-made temple ("Angelic church") the imperishable body of the pastor. After that annually in day of martyr death of prelate Clyment the sea receded and within seven days Christians could worship. In IX century the part of Clyment body has been brought by Cyril and Mefodiy to Rome, and his head has been brought to Kyiv by prince Volodymyr.
